This Privacy Policy explains how SARL Particles, operating the Chunkify video-transcoding platform (“Chunkify”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use our services.

Chunkify complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable French data-protection laws.

By creating an account or using Chunkify, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Data We Collect

These analytics are used strictly to operate, maintain, and improve the platform.

2.3 Cookies and Website Tracking

Chunkify uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, GDPR-compliant analytics tool.

No cookies
No personal data stored

2.4 Support Communication

We store:

Emails sent to support
Replies from our team
Attachments related to troubleshooting

Data is kept within our professional email system to ensure service continuity.

2.5 Uploaded Video Content

Chunkify stores uploaded video data only for the minimum time required to process your jobs.

We store:

Source files (input videos)
Chunked input fragments created during ingest
Generated output files (only when using Chunkify Storage)
Operational logs and metrics

Retention Rules

Input Files (Source & Chunks)

Stored for 24 hours in all cases
(whether uploaded directly or ingested via remote URL).
Automatically deleted after 24 hours.

Output Files

When using your own storage (AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, etc.):
- Output files are delivered directly to your destination bucket.
- Chunkify does not store any output data.
- Retention: 0 hours.
When using Chunkify Storage:
- Output files are stored for 24 hours.
- Automatically deleted after 24 hours.
- Intended primarily for testing or temporary use.

Logs & Metrics

Operational logs and job metrics may be retained longer to ensure reliability, debugging, and accurate usage reporting.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use personal data for:

Managing your account
Processing and running transcoding jobs
Calculating compute usage and billing
Improving platform reliability and performance
Providing customer support
Sending essential operational notices
Securing the platform and preventing abuse

We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under GDPR, we process personal data based on:

Contract necessity
Legitimate interests
Legal obligations (billing)
Consent where required

5. Data Hosting

Data is stored on AWS, in the region selected by the customer (e.g., US-East-1, US-West-2, EU regions).
Some regions are enabled by default; others may be activated upon request.

All storage remains within AWS infrastructure.

6. Third-Party Processors

Stripe (Billing)

Handles billing and payment processing. Stripe processes all payments in USD on our behalf. https://stripe.com/privacy

AWS (Hosting & Storage)

Stores video files, outputs, retention items, and operational metadata.

Cloudflare (Networking, Egress & Storage)

Used for network egress and optional R2 storage chosen by the customer.

No other subprocessors are used.

7. Data Retention

Video Files

Retained only for the plan-defined retention window, then deleted.

Metadata

Technical metadata (compute time, formats, durations, costs, etc.) is kept indefinitely for reporting and historical analysis.

Support Emails

Retained as long as needed for service continuity.

Account Data

Erased upon deletion request unless legal obligations require retention (e.g., invoices).

Chunkify does not guarantee long-term storage of Content or Output.

You have the right to:

Delete your data
Correct inaccurate data
Receive a copy of your data
Restrict processing
Object to processing

9. Data Security

We use:

Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
Role-based access control
Infrastructure isolation
AWS physical and network security
Internal monitoring and audit logs

While no system is fully secure, we follow industry best practices.

Chunkify does not:

Sell personal data
Share data with advertisers
Track users across websites

We may disclose data only where required:

To comply with legal obligations
To prevent fraud or abuse
To protect the integrity of the platform

11. Account Deletion

To delete your account, follow the instructions in the dashboard https://chunkify.dev/account.

After deletion:

Profile data is erased
Videos follow retention, then are deleted
Billing records may be retained as required by law
Metadata may be anonymized and retained

12. International Transfers

Data processed outside the EU is transferred using AWS' GDPR-compliant mechanisms, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as needed.
Updates will be reflected on this page.
Continued use of Chunkify constitutes acceptance.
