Chunkify pricing is based on the compute time required to process your video assets.

Understanding compute time calculation

The Compute Time is calculated by adding the time each transcoder spends processing its portion of the video. We charge for a minimum time of 30 seconds per transcoder.

The pricing baseline is the 4vCPU configuration. Each transcoder type has a minute multiplier based on its processing power. For example, jobs that run on 8vCPU transcoder consume minutes at 2 times the rate that jobs on 4vCPU transcoder consume.

How much compute time do I need for my videos?

To answer this question, we will use the Blender movie "Tears of Steel" which is 12:14 minutes long. The source file is 3840x1714, 70MB/s, 24fps, 6.3GB in size.

The video size and bitrate are huge and this is not a typical video. Most of the time, the specs are much smaller.

These numbers are specific to this video example. Compute time varies depending on the video's resolution, bitrate, format, and transcoder settings. Higher transcoder configurations process videos faster but cost more.

Plan Features

Below is a glossary of the key features and limits available in each plan.

Projects

Each project represents an independent, isolated workspace within your account.
Projects are ideal for:

• Maintaining separate environments (e.g., staging, production)
• Managing multiple clients or video pipelines independently
• Monitoring and tracking usage and costs per environment or client

Each plan defines the maximum number of active projects you can maintain simultaneously.
Projects have their own API keys, statistics, and compute quotas.

vCPU Concurrency

The vCPU concurrency defines the maximum number of vCPUs you can use simultaneously under your plan.
This limit directly determines your throughput and parallel processing capacity. Higher concurrency results in shorter overall job durations.

If a job requests more vCPUs than your plan allows, it will not be authorized to start, and the API will return an error response.

Maximum Source File Size

Each plan defines a hard limit on the maximum input file size (in GB).
If a source file exceeds this limit, the job will fail immediately with a validation error before transcoding begins, and the API will return an error code.

Maximum Execution Time

The maximum execution time defines the total duration allowed for a job to complete, covering the ingest, transcoding, and delivery stages.
If this limit is exceeded, the job will be automatically aborted.

This safeguard prevents jobs from running below expected performance levels.
To maintain optimal performance, we recommend upgrading to a higher plan with greater vCPU concurrency or a longer execution

Data Retention

The data retention period defines how long Chunkify stores your job-related data (logs, metrics, and output files).
After this period:

• Job data and output files are automatically deleted.
• Statistics and metadata (e.g., compute usage, formats, duration, and costs) remain permanently available in your dashboard for reporting and historical analysis.

Team Collaboration

Each plan supports multiple team members collaborating within the same workspace.
Every member has their own authentication tokens, ensuring secure and independent API access.

There are two roles within a team:

• Admin: Has full control over the team workspace, including budget management, subscription settings, credit top-ups, and member invitations.
  Admins can also create and manage teams and projects.
  We recommend having at least two Admins in each team to handle urgent actions such as billing or credit management.

• Developer: Has access to the dashboard and full access to the API for everything under the project (jobs, sources, webhooks, etc.).

This structure ensures a clear separation of responsibilities between administration and development, maintaining both flexibility and operational security.

Subscriptions

Our subscription system is team-based, meaning each team has exactly one subscription.

Upgrading and downgrading plan

You can change plans anytime from your account settings under Manage Subscription. Upgrades take effect immediately, while downgrades apply at the start of the next billing cycle.

Cancelling

You can cancel anytime from your account settings under Manage Subscription. Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing cycle :

• When cancellation takes effect, your team will be paused. All your data (except data subject to data retention policies) will be preserved and available if you resubscribe to the same plan.
• There are no lock-ins or hidden fees, but any unused wallet credits will not be refunded.

Egress fees

Egress fees may apply depending on your storage provider:

AWS S3 Storage

Free egress - no additional costs for data transfer.

Cloudflare R2 Storage

Egress costs: $0.09 per GiB of processed output transferred from Chunkify to R2.

S3-compatible storage

Egress costs: $0.09 per GiB of processed output transferred from Chunkify to your storage. This rate applies to all S3-compatible providers, including services behind custom endpoints.
